Ice Hockey League, Bolzano defeated in game 7
Bolzano ko
In front of a soldout Sparkasse Arena (nearly 7000 spectators), Bolzano failed to complete the comeback in the series, after the incredible victories in Game 5 and 6, against Salzburg and succumbed in the last 10′ of play. After the lead scored by Cole Hults in the second half, Salzburg does not flinch. First it equalized at 50′ through captain Thomas Raffl and then found the title-winning deflection with 108 seconds left with Nikolas Mayer’s touch on Genoway’s shot. Thus ends a more than exciting finals series that brought for the 7 games a total of more than 36,000 spectators between Bolzano and Salzburg.
EC Red Bull Salzburg defended the title in the win2day ICE Hockey League won last year against Fehervar. The Red Bulls won their eighth title in ICE history (through 2020 EBEL).
Salzburg goalie Atte Tolvanen was voted MVP of the playoffs by journalists. The 28-year-old Finn impressed once again this postseason with a total of three shutouts and a 94.5 percent save percentage.
