“The Giro d’Italia is a race that I enjoy and has a special place in my heart. The nature of the course makes it unpredictable.” Mark Cavendish is ready to tackle his first big Giro with the Astana Qazaqstan Team.

“We have a very strong team capable of chasing stage wins in the 21-day competition,” adds the experienced British rider. “And, of course, a good mix of talent and experience to get the most out of it and have fun racing. Having a team that is not focused exclusively on sprints takes the pressure off my shoulders slightly, although I obviously want to try to win. Although we don’t have a train, I know I have the confidence of my team around me on days that suit my characteristics and I will do everything I can to support my teammates in the other stages.”
