Superbike, Catalunya: domination of Alvaro Bautista and Ducati in race-1
Yet another show for Ducati and Alvaro Bautista who won by dominating race-1 of the Catalan Grand Prix of World Superbike at the Montmeló circuit.
The race was stopped after three laps due to the crash of Honda’s Brazilian Eric Granado, who was taken away on a stretcher with the Spaniard already in the lead, then the 38-year-old Castilian after the restart completed the task by beating Yamaha’s Turk Toprak Razgatlioglu by more than 8 seconds, who got the better of his arch-rival Jonathan Rea, the Northern Irishman of Kawasaki, in a sprint for second place.
Fourth was the best of the Italians, Andrea Locatelli, Razgatlioglu’s teammate, while Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing Ducati) and Michael Ruben Rinaldi, Bautista’s teammate, collided. For Bautista, the reigning world champion, it is the 11th win of the season out of 14 between Superpole, Superpole races, race-1 and race-2.
