David Coulthard takes a swipe at Lewis Hamilton
David Coulthard spoke at Channel 4’s microphones to have his say on the opposing moment George Russell, driving a car that has never been so competitive, and Lewis Hamilton, who on the other hand has not yet found the right feeling with his car. “This is the best car George has ever driven, and you have to remember he was at Williams before,” he pointed out, “whereas this is not the best car Lewis has ever driven. His mind is in a different place, the car is not talking to him and not expressing his strengths, and you can see it by how he is fighting out there unsteadily. As a result, you have two drivers at different stages of their careers: the powerful Lewis is still there, but he won’t be able to perform at his best until Mercedes is as competitive as it was in the past.”
He then took a swipe at the seven-time world champion: “George has a lot more on his plate because he has no doubts about staying for one more year or winning another world championship. George is doing a great job, and he is an absolute asset to the team. This does not mean that Lewis is not doing a great job, just that the car is not talking to him right now. However, when he can find the feeling, show Russell that he has won seven world championships.”
