Europeans: Poland too strong, Italvolley beaten in final
Italvolley has to settle for the silver medal in the European Championships: in the final in Rome, under the eyes of the President of the Republic Mattarella, De Giorgi’s team did not manage to oppose the overwhelming power of Poland, which è returned to the throne of Europe after 14 years.
The Poles won with the score of 20-25, 21-25, 23-25 dragged by a great Leon (13 points) and Huber (12). The Azzurri suffered from their opponents’ serving, and were inaccurate in attack, perhaps also crushed by tension.
Only in the third part De Giorgi’s team è itself a little, but Poland è proved to be relentless and closed the match in three sets. For ours the best è Lavia with 13 points.
