F1, Daniel Ricciardo cut: McLaren’s decision
According to Motorsport reports, McLaren has decided to end Ricciardo’s contract early
Daniel Ricciardo away a year early from McLaren to make way for Oscar Piastri: according to rumors reported by Motorsport, the British team has already officially notified the Australian driver of its decision to end his contract prematurely.
Piastri, despite what Alpine claims, would be hired by McLaren as a reserve driver in 2023, but the Woking team would be ready to promote him right away if an agreement can be reached with Ricciardo to terminate the engagement.
The Australian, who failed to shine in McLaren alongside Lando Norris, will try to seek an arrangement for a major severance package. His goal is to remain in F1 next season anyway, probably at Alpine itself taking the place left by Fernando Alonso, or at Haas.
