There will also be Matteo Berrettini among the tennis players already entered in the main draw of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000. The Roman, in fact, è one of the four athletes who received a wild card for the main draw of the tournament, whose draw è scheduled for Friday, April 5. Berrettini thus joins Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti and Matteo Arnaldi, already by right in the draw thanks to their respective ranking positions.
As announced by the organizers of the Principality’s Masters 1000, wild cards for the main draw were awarded not only to Matteo Berrettini but also to Gael Monfils, Stan Wawrinka and Valentin Vacherot. Also awarded three wild cards for the qualifying tournament: the athletes chosen are Lucas Catarina, Diego Schwartzman and Lucas Pouille.
Matteo Berrettini has participated in the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 three times in his career, with reaching the third round in 2023 as his best result: just then it was one of the many physical problems that characterized last year that stopped him, so much so that the match against Holger Rune was won by the Dane due to the forfeit of the athlete from the Capital.
At the Masters 1000 level, Berrettini's best career result was the final he reached in Madrid in 2021: defeating him in the final act of the tournament played in the Spanish capital was Sascha Zverev in three sets, 6(8)-7, 6-4, 6-3.
