Bologna, here is Thijs Dallinga: heir to Zirkzee made official
Thijs Dallinga has signed with Bologna
The news had been in the air for a few days but only on Tuesday it acquired all the trappings of officialdom: Thijs Dallinga è a new Bologna player and will goà to compensate, according to the intentions of the Rossoblù management, the departure of Joshua Zirkzee, a great protagonist of the season culminated with the conquest of a place in the Champions League, who flew to Manchester United.
"Eighth footballer from the Netherlands in our history – explains the Bologna club in the note published on its channels -, Thijs è a center forward with good technique and excellent confidence with goal, veteran of 73 goals in the last 3 seasons played. Of imposing stature and physicality, he loves to dialogue with teammates and is also good outside the box, showing an enviable scoring repertoire: he scores in all ways, including headers and acrobatics, always looking for space between defenders who mark him and reading well the trajectories of crosses".
Dallinga played the previous two seasons at Toulouse, in the French league: with the whites of the Viola he won the French Cup in the 2022/23 season, scoring twice in the 5-1 final win over Nantes at the Stade de France in Paris. In his palmarès the Dutchman also boasts a promotion to the Eredivisie, with Excelsior, in 2021/22.
Bologna is therefore counting on his goals to face, for the first time in its history, the UEFA Champions League since it assumed that name. The felsinei have participated in the past, more precisely in the 1964/65 season, in the old Champions Cup, stopping in the first round against Anderlecht because of bad luck: it was in fact the toss of the coin (the penalty lottery had not yet been conceived) that determined the victory of the Belgians, after Bologna’s knockout in the away game (0-1), the 2-1 victory at home and the 0-0 draw in the play-off match.
