Gregorio Paltrinieri leaves the door open for the future

After not placing in the 10 km cross-country at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Gregorio Paltrinieri, hot on the microphones of "Rai Sport", would not rule out a priori the possibility of retiring after these Olympic Games. Speaking on the TV program "Olympic Nights", however, the Italian swimmer wanted more clarity on his future hours after the race in the Seine.

"At this age; you have to think year by year. Now Los Angeles è far away, but if the goal è that I would gladly do it. The Olympics is something different, beautiful, and I had a great time even in cross-country swimming. If it was for a good cause I would have no problem continuing. You can dream big and think about getting to the Olympics in Los Angeles, but for now I have to think about bringing my body to be at peace with itself. I do not exclude anything: I like competing and competing, if the body and the head can do it I will want to do it, forò now I need to disconnect" began the blue swimmer.

"It's been a complicated race, also considering the numerous controversies over the Seine. No one had ever swum in a river with a very strong current, and we did it. We went strong in a particular race, which I don&#39t think we will see more like this. Not having tested the race course affected me a little bit; I know the Hungarians trained in the Danube. For me then it is not è easy to keep the condition for two weeks" added the silver medalist in the 1500 m freestyle.

"It has been 12 years and I still play for the podium in the pool. I never would have imagined it, even with the way it è been going lately. Newer and stronger athletes are popping up all the time, and I continue to be there with them; for me, the silver and bronze won here in Paris is worth like two gold medals" concluded Gregorio Paltrinieri.
