Alessia Maurelli could not have expected a more beautiful Saturday, although some small regrets remain for a "only" bronze medal in the rhythmic gymnastics team All Around, with Italy that in addition to unreachable China also finished behind Israel.
In fact, the Azzurra captain received a marriage proposal from her boyfriend Massimo Bertelloni before standing on the podium with her teammates. "You’re crazy", her words before the traditional sì, complete with a kiss on live world TV.
"I still haven’t realized. Last year I had told the boyfriend that I would make it, but I never thought he would make it for me", she later told RAI microphones in a decidedly different than usual hot interview.
