Eight Nations League matches were staged on Thursday evening: only two were from League A, with Group 2 qualifying Italy, victorious 1-0 in Belgium, and France, which did not go beyond a 0-0 draw against Israel and started at a disadvantage in the direct clash that will decide first place. Belgians and Israelis, on the other hand, will compete for third place, which leads to the play-off not to relegate, and last, which instead sends directly to League B.
A League B from which England wants to get out as soon as possible, defeating Greece 3-0 in Group 2 (Watkins scored on 7' and Jones on 83' in between was Vlachodimos's own goal on 78') and joining the Hellenes on 12 points. In the other match of the group, a goal by Ferguson at 45' gives the three points to Ireland, which beats Finland 1-0. Standings: England and Greece 12, Ireland 6 (already certain to play the play-off not to relegate), Finland 0 (arithmetically relegated.
Group 3 also took the field: Norway beats Slovenia 4-1 at home with goals from Nusa on 4', Haaland on 45' (after the momentary equalizer signed by Sesko on a penalty kick on 21'), Nusa again on 59' and Hauge on 82', while Austria prevailed 2-0 away against Kazakhstan thanks to goals by Baumgartner on 15' and Gregoritsch on 25' (two minutes after Kazakhstan's Marochkin was red-carded. Standings. Austria and Norway 10, Slovenia 7, Kazakhstan 1 (relegated to League C).
Celebrating promotion from League C to League B is North Macedonia: beating Latvia 1-0 with Serafimov's goal at 57', the Macedonians clinch Group 4 with a day to spare, taking their lead to 13 points against the 6 points of the second-placed Faroe Islands, whose national team beats Armenia 1-0 at the latter's home, thanks to Davidsen's goal on a penalty kick at 33'.
