F1, Las Vegas, Vasseur: “Done the best we could.”
Ferrari è at -24 points from McLaren
Ferrari makes up more points to McLaren in the race for the Constructors’ Championship. Now the Cavallino è at -24 points with two races still to go. In short, the possibility of winning the Constructors’ World Championship by the Rossa è is still real.
"We limited the damage but we had to score more points. However, it was the best we could do becauseè Mercedes today was literally flying", the clear words of Vasseur, Ferrari’s team principal at the end of the Las Vegas GP in which the Cavallino è managed to recover 12 points in view of the Constructors’ World Championship standings to McLaren, which appeared in great distress.
Vasseur still believes in the chance to win the Constructors’ World Championship title: "Of course it è possible, we are 24 points away, that’s two times 12 points to take. Let’s focus on the next race and see what we can do. Today the pace had ups and downs. We have to do a better job next time".
Team principal Vasseur then glossed over the "quarrel" between Leclerc and Sainz: "It's been very difficult. They both wanted to get into the pit. We argued with Carlos… It's been a difficult race for the drivers, there's pressure but let's focus on the next race", the Ferrari number one’s closing remark.
