Amstel Gold Race, Skjelmose a dream ahead of Pogacar and Evenepoel

Mattias Skjelmose won the Amstel Gold Race, winning in a sprint ahead of the two big favorites, Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel and world champion Tadej Pogacar.
“I can’t believe it. I was on the limit, I was on Remco’s wheel, I didn’t think I could do something like that. I would have settled for a place on the podium, I tried to hold off the group that was coming back from behind. Remco started off right, the wind was coming from the left, Tadej moved out, I tried to follow him and in the end I don’t know what happened. I couldn’t believe it, it means so much to me.”
“I just lost my grandfather and I dedicate the victory to him,” he concluded, bursting into tears as he hugged his teammates.
