Tijjani Reijnders in addition to Italian Cup dreams of second star with AC Milan

Long interview with Gazzetta dello Sport for Tijjani Reijnders: “Milan is Rossoneri because this season Inter have never beaten us. We showed what we can do and the last one was the best of the five derbies played”.

“Conceicao has a lot of merit – he added – We talked about the possibility of winning two trophies and we took the field determined to win the final. The new form fits well with the characteristics of the squad. We can always improve, but we are on the right track”.

“Italian Cup final? We will be facing a strong opponent who has good ball possession. They have quality up front, especially on the outsides, and it will be tough. Compared to the match we lost in the league, however, we play differently now and I am convinced we will do better. We are confident because we are Milan and we have a quality team. In Rome we have to show that we are the better team. My compatriot Beukema? Sometimes we talk to each other. Maybe we will in the coming days… I also know Odgaard well who is not Dutch but he was with me at Az”.

“We have not been consistent enough in performance and we have lost so many points on the road. On Wednesday we had a great chance to reach the final and to continue aiming for qualification for the European cups. Winning the Italian Cup can allow us to participate in the next European cups and we have to try. We were as hungry as dogs on the field, plus we showed that quality that was not always seen during the season. Why was it not always seen? There is no explanation, other than the fact that we were not continuous. A prime example is that we won at the Bernabeu and then drew in Cagliari: if you want to fight to win the championship, you cannot afford that. We have to do much better in this final season and in the next one. I am convinced that we will improve”.

The goals are clear: “To win trophies. This season we can win two, but in the coming seasons my biggest dream is to put the second star over the Milan patch. I am in love with this jersey and it is an honor to wear it”.
