Milan, Coppa Italia not enough: Sergio Conceiçao to say goodbye

According to Milan soccer market: the final of the Coppa Italia is not enough, and Sergio Conceiçao seems destined to leave the Rossoneri bench at the end of the season in spite of whatever the outcome of the challenge at the Olimpico in Rome against Vincenzo Italiano’s Bologna. Too disappointing the performance of the Diavolo in the league, where it currently occupies the ninth position in the standings. Reason why the management reportedly decided that his contract will not be renewed in any case.
The ‘Corriere dello Sport’ reports, which in its Friday edition reiterates that Milan’s decision will not change. The Coppa Italia final will of course see Conceiçao leading the team, as will all the other matches until the end of the season. Then it will be goodbye, after just six months in which disappointments in Serie A have actually been matched by results that are anything but unremarkable.
In fact, it should not be forgotten that Conceiçao’s Milan secured the Italian Super Cup last January, moreover, thanks to one of the season’s derbies won against Inter. Already, therefore, the Portuguese coach boasts a title in his trophy cabinet: should he win the Coppa Italia, it would be two. A prospect that would make him the first Rossoneri coach to win two trophies in the same season even since Carlo Ancelotti in 2007. That is, the year of the Champions League in Athens.
All the same, too little for confirmation, although already simply winning the final may have solved part of Milan’s seasonal problems. Meanwhile, the Rome final is worth landing a new edition of the Italian Super Cup, plus the prospect of winning qualification for next year’s Europa League remains alive. When, however, Conceiçao will be gone.
