Virtus Bologna awaits Varese with a clear goal

The Virtus Segafredo Arena will host Sunday, April 27, with the ball at 7:30 p.m., the challenge between hosts Virtus Bologna and Openjobmetis Varese, for the 28th day of the Italian basketball championship. For the Black Vu’s it’s a more difficult match than the standings say: Varese, in fact, is out of the playoff zone and practically safe, but it comes from two successes in a row against Napoli and Sassari and has nothing to lose.
Virtus, on the other hand, is playing for the chance to get the first seed in the postseason: “We face a team that has changed, in the last two months, coach and interpreters – explained Daniele Parente, bianconero assistant coach -, while still managing to maintain the same offensive dangerousness and improving the defensive side”.
“It will be necessary to start with individual defensive responsibility, as all their guards are adept at creating both for themselves and for their teammates. They have players who shoot over 40% from 3-point range and can count on the top scorer in the league, so it is clear that the individual defensive approach will be one of the keys to the match. On offense we will have to be patient and dictate the pace of the game” added Dusko Ivanovic’s deputy.
After the mid-March slump in results, Virtus Bologna has reared its head again, winning, from March 28 onward, six of the seven games played: the’only knockout came in the European arena, with the 91-87 defeat on the parquet of Barcelona. In the league, the Black Vu’s share first place with Trapani with three days to go, with Brescia and Trento chasing just two points behind.
