King’s Cup 2024-2025: Barcelona-Real Madrid, the likely lineups

The anticipation grows exponentially, hour after hour, for the “Clásico” between Barcelona and Real Madrid that will decide the winner of the 2024-2025 King’s Cup: the neutral field of Seville (specifically the Estadio de la Cartuja) will host a challenge already inflamed on the eve of the match, due to the controversy related to the referee designation, which was only withdrawn a few hours before kickoff.
Barça, a 31-time winner of the competition, which, however, has been missing from the trophy cabinet since 2021, will have to do without important elements such as Robert Lewandowski and Alejandro Balde. In attack, Hansi Flick is expected to rely on Ferran Torres as the main point of reference, supported by Yamal, Gavi and Raphinha.
Real, after the bitter disappointment in the Champions League, is banking heavily on this competition (won 20 times, the last in 2023) since in the league it is second, four points behind Barcelona itself, with five days to go. Carlo Ancelotti, for several insiders on his last outings on the Blancos bench, will not have available Eduardo Camavinga, one of the keys to the midfield. Possible the use of Modric from 1′, right on the midfield line, along with Tchouameni and Ceballos.
Probable lineups
BARCELONA (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Koundé, Araujo, Cubarsí, Gerard Martin; De Jong, Pedri; Yamal, Gavi, Raphinha; Ferran Torres. All. Flick.
REAL MADRID (4-3-1-2): Courtois; Valverde, Asencio, Rudiger, Mendy; Modric, Tchouameni, Ceballos; Bellingham; Rodrygo, Vinicius. All. Ancelotti.
