“I am finally reaping the fruits of my labor,” said the blue tennis player.

After a complicated period at the sporting level, also marked by not being called to the Davis Cup, Lorenzo Sonego finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel by beating opponent Alexander Bublik in two sets in the final of the Atp 250 tournament in Metz. The Italian, moreover, thanks to this success, relaunched himself in the Atp rankings.

The Italian, interviewed by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport,’ initially expressed his opinion on the current season: “It has been a difficult year. I’ve worked a lot, especially physically and on my serve and in my shots to start the game, but I couldn’t materialize. I am happy because I am finally reaping the fruits of my labor, I just had to have confidence in what we were doing.”

Sonego added, “The ranking I don’t look at right now, maybe the fact that I dropped in the ranking made me feel a different situation that made me grow.”

Finally, an inevitable comment on Roger Federer’s retirement, “I saw his retirement, it was goosebumps. He represents everything to me. I started playing because I saw him, his matches were the only ones I could never miss.”
