Jannik Sinner as Gigi Riva: Angelo Binaghi’s revelation

The president of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation Angelo Binaghi spoke to Sky Sport microphones on the sidelines of the ’event “Sport, Growth and Development” in Cagliari, where the first edition of the Gigi Riva Trophy will be staged this evening.

“What Jannik Sinner is for a generation of young Italians today was Gigi Riva – stressed the Federtennis number one.

They are both champions from humble beginnings who came from small villages. They were lucky enough to grow up in healthy families and made good use of sound principles. They are different from everyone else, they multiply positive effects on society”.

Binaghi also spoke about Matteo Berrettini, who is going through a complicated period: “Seeing him train with Sinner has brought me back in good spirits: just yesterday I wrote to him in a message. Although he had some problems, it is crucial to get back a guy with his personality and charisma”.

“Both for the Davis Cup team and for the whole Italian movement, Italian tennis still needs him. Together with Sinner they must be the guide for our youth” concluded Binaghi.
