World season record in the weight for Leonardo Fabbri

A little more than a month before the start of the World Championships in Tokyo, Sept. 13-21, Leonardo Fabbri at the Italian Absolute Championships in Caorle set the season world record in the men’s shot put with a measurement of 22.82, obtained on the fifth throw, 34 centimeters farther than the American Joe Kovacs.

Nadia Battocletti does a double: after yesterday’s victory in the 5,000 she granted an encore today in the 1,500 in 4’06″12. With a series in crescendo (8.01, 8.17, 8.26) Mattia Furlani won the tricolor in the long jump, and in the corresponding women’s competition eighth Italian title, fourth outdoors, with 6.78 for Larissa Iapichino.

Lorenzo Simonelli won the 110 hurdles very convincingly with a time of 13″18. Of note, in the women’s field, another one-two in addition to that of Battocletti: it is that of Daisy Osakue, who after the title in the discus wins for the first time the one in the weight with 15.55 on the last throw.

In the men’s high jump Gianmarco Tamberi, still far from his best condition, is fifth with a modest 2.12; the title goes to rival Marco Fassinotti with 2.20. Finally, a double also among men: Fausto Desalu after the 100 also wins the 200 in 20″66.
