Ferrari: Charles Leclerc knows what the problem has been since'winter
Ferrari is experiencing a 2025 disappointing for its drivers and also for the fans, and Charles Leclerc has an’idea of the reasons why. He himself spoke about it, framing not only the progress that the Maranello team is trying to bring to the SF-25, but also the various steps experienced in the first half of the season now that the championship has stopped for the summer break.
“In the winter the expectation was sky-high – admitted Leclerc speaking to ‘Sky Sport‘ -This climate altered the perception about our season. Then we are not in the position we wanted to be in, that is clear, because Ferrari can only win. However, it must be said that McLaren has grown in a frightening way. We in turn have made progress, but with the pace of Mercedes and Red Bull. And in fact it is with these that we are battling for second place”.
The hope of anyone who cares about Ferrari is now that the second half of the season will be significantly better than the first. And Leclerc believes the direction taken is the right one: “Improvements are coming gradually, one step at a time. We are definitely moving in the right way. We are not satisfied with this situation and we would like to achieve more and more, but the steps we have taken are a source of satisfaction for us”.
Leclerc then addressed Ferrari’s recent decision to confirm Frederic Vasseur as team principal for 2026 as well. An announcement that the Monegasque driver, professionally linked to his current boss since his days at Sauber Alfa Romeo, warmly welcomed, reiterating his positive opinion even when all bets are off.
The announcement was a good one.
“I am happy, because Fred is a great person. But not only because of that – Leclerc explained -Vasseur has given everyone a hand in dealing more calmly with the various situations we faced. As I have always said, in Ferrari the most positive and the most negative aspects coincide and are the passion that surrounds us. When things are going well, we can live everything at 2000 percent and that is great. However, when there are problems, it happens to be much more complicated to recharge psychologically”.
