When Jannik Sinner plays in Cincinnati: background with Gabriel Diallo

After a velvet debut with Daniel Elahi Galan, Jannik Sinner is expected to have a more treacherous match in the third round of the Cincinnati Masters 1000. The world and seeded number one will face Gabriel Diallo, number 30 in the seeding and 35 in the ATP rankings.
The match between the Blue and the Canadian is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 11 on the ‘P&G Center Court’ of the ‘Lindner Family Tennis Center’ in Mason. Sinner and Diallo will open the program in the evening session: the two will take the court at 7 p.m. local time (1 a.m. in Italy where it will already be Tuesday, Aug. 12).
There is no precedent between Sinner and Diallo: the South Tyrolean, reigning champion of the U.S. tournament, naturally starts as the favorite while the Canadian, who overcame Argentina’s Sebastian Baez in two sets in the opener, will try to pull off the feat.
“It is not easy to play here – Sinner said right after his win with Galan -The surface is very fast, but I am happy with how it went, especially on serve. I am happy to be back here, the crowd is very participative and the atmosphere is beautiful. The heat? You can feel it, I could already feel it before the match, but I knew the conditions would be tough”.
