Milan, Pervis Estupiñan doesn’t want to make Theo Hernandez regret it

Pervis Estupiñan, Milan’s new left-back, introduced himself at a press conference: “Milan is a club known everywhere, not only in my country. I know well the players who have worn this jersey, I have worked so hard to be here and I want to enjoy this moment. It makes me proud to be the first Ecuadorian on this team, it motivates me to make history. So many people have written to me telling me that they have always been milanistas, several who live in Milan have already said they will come to the San Siro to cheer for me”.

On his condition: “I feel good, in a good condition and ready physically: I can&#8217t wait to play at San Siro. In all the teams I have been in, I have shown that I am a physical player. It was exciting to hear about this club&#8217s interest, in the family we were very happy. It is an opportunity that I want to make the most of, it is a dream come true. Since I landed in Milan I have received the warmest welcome I could have wished for, I felt the desire of my teammates to achieve great things. We want to strive and hope to start as early as Sunday on the right foot. The goal is to get off to the best possible start: the coach is asking a lot of us and wants us to establish a winning mentality”.

On the role: “I like to dialogue with midfielders and strikers, I am sticking to what the Coach says. If we play with four, I can go up and connect with the forwards, but I can also play with a three-man defense. At Milan I found a fabulous group, we are all motivated to achieve great goals. The first impact with Allegri was very pleasant, he knows how to joke with the players but also be very serious when it’s time to work. He wants to win and I really like his attitude”.

The Ecuadorian will inherit the role of Theo Hernandez: “He is a great player, with a very fine foot and in this team he has left his mark. Now it is my time, I will work hard because I want to repay everyone&#8217s trust. I can&#8217t wait to win many trophies with Milan, I want to contribute in this sense”.

On Roberto De Zerbi: “He helped me understand Italian: I still don&#8217t speak it, but I understand it. At the football level I am very happy to have been coached by him, a great coach who really helped me a lot. I remember with so much pleasure the two seasons with him, I will try to reproduce what I learned from him. The Premier is a very intense league, different from La Liga. There you run a lot, the ball moves a lot. De Zerbi made me realize that I had to improve in passing, I worked individually with him and I grew in this aspect. Here I will try to continue to improve”.

Estupiñan will play on the same wing as Rafael Leao: “I can&#8217t wait to play with him, I am so ready. We all know Rafa&#8217s technical qualities, I am very motivated by the idea of playing alongside him, it galvanizes me. I realized we can do good things together from the first moment I saw him’I saw him”.
