Reduced from his victory in Cincinnati against Gabriel Diallo, number 23 in a row on cement, Jannik Sinner is continuing his run with the goal of completing the entire year in first place in the ATP rankings. An achievement not only possible thanks to the South Tyrolean&#8217s undisputed qualities, but also the child of the work done with coaches Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill.

Cahill himself, in an interview with the ATP Tour’s portal, spoke of Sinner&#8217s strengths, emphasizing one in particular, related to his desire to constantly improve, never resting on his achievements. “One thing I told him from the’beginning was that he needed to improve his serve, being 6’4 and physically strong. With a few more hourly kilometers, not only was he able to win more points with the first, but also the next shot became much more effective: if opponents can neutralize the serve, they still have to work much harder for every single point”.

“That said, his questions came, one after another. It is typical of him. He wants to compete. He–s a competition animal,– the Australian supercoach said firmly.

We are seeing an incredible level of tennis right now with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik. If you look at the work they have done over the last few years, they have clearly set themselves apart from the rest of the pack. Now it is up to the others to chase”.

Jannik Sinner has been leading the ATP rankings since June 10, 2024, and has not relinquished the scepter of world No. 1 since then. The’only one so far able to counter the overwhelming power of the South Tyrolean outfielder has been Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated him in Rome and Roland Garros in 2025. At Wimbledon, however, came the Italian&#8217s mighty revenge: the Cincinnati tournament could be the stage for the next challenge.
