Chiara Consonni, fresh winner of the Tour of Poland Women, thanked her teammates after the last stage for helping her triumph: “The team did an incredible job. We tried to stay close to the breakaways all the time and then put everything on the sprint. I hadn’t won anything yet this year, so my goal was really this race. After the victory in the first stage I thought, “Why not?” and from there it all went for the best”.

“It is never easy to stay focused and manage energy– explained the Canyon-SRAM Zondacrypto team rider -, but sharing the route with experienced teammates gave morale. I believed in myself and the whole team – sports directors, teammates – was fantastic. The work behind the scenes is just as crucial as the work on the run. I really have to thank everyone for the support”.

“On the first day we were still getting to know each other, so the final train was not perfect. Today it made a difference and I was able to pay them back. We gave everything, under great heat, so the recovery was important. The finish was harder than yesterday, but we believed in it and made it”.

Also on the stage podium with Consonni was Linda Zanetti (Uno-X Mobility), who was also second in the overall standings: “It&#8217s been a good race, although we wanted to win. We lost the flying finish, so we put all our eggs in the stage victory basket. Unfortunately, I got closed in the sprint and it didn&#8217t go. We came with a young team and grew day by day, so we can be satisfied. After the Tour de France I didn”t really know what to expect because I was tired, but in the end it went well”.
