Bagnaia-Ducati tension: back-and-forth with Dall'Igna and Tardozzi

Relationship in crisis between Pecco Bagnaia and Ducati: the Piedmontese rider demanded an explanation after yet another disappointing weekend in Austria, perhaps the worst of his parabola with the Borgo Panigale stable. The two-time MotoGP world champion after a nightmarish Sprint race finished just eighth on Sunday, at a track where he had dominated the past three seasons.
“Today was a repeat of what happened during the rest of the year. I fight giving it my all and in the end I finish eighth at 12 seconds. I am always focused. Yet today I did not feel comfortable. I hope to receive explanations, I am losing patience”, he told DAZN Spain.
“I am always focused, I have never lost my mind. I always give my best and today I came in behind. Again everyone was passing me coming out of the corners, I couldn’t accelerate. It’s a bit of a peculiar situation. At the moment Ducati is not telling me anything, I am waiting”.
General manager Gigi Dall’Igna replied to Sky: “It is normal: when one expects to do important things, but then he cannot express himself at his level. Clearly Bagnaia is disappointed, unfortunately it goes like this. Maybe there’s also a psychological aspect, we try to give Pecco the maximum support. When things start to go wrong, everything ends up going wrong and it is difficult to find a point from which to restart”.
David Davide Tardozzi also responded to Bagnaia, confirming the team’s full confidence in him: “No one in here is questioning the qualities and potential of Francesco Bagnaia, because he has won 2 MotoGP world championships with merit. His speed showed it again today in the first half of the race and in Brno when he took pole. It is up to us to help him find the square”.
