Champions League playoffs: Brugge strike in Glasgow, Red Star and Ferencvaros knockout

Three away wins came in the three Champions League playoff first leg matches played Tuesday. Red Star surprisingly fell at home 2-1 against Pafos Cypriots, scoring through Correia and Pepe before Bruno Duarte’s goal kept the Serbs alive ahead of the return match, scheduled for a week from now.

Heavy knockout also for Rangers, beaten 3-1 at home in Glasgow by Club Brugge.

The Belgian team scored three goals in the first 20 minutes of the match through Vermant, Spileers and Mechele. In the second half, Danielo Pereira’s goal still gave the Scots hope.

Home defeat also suffered by Ferencvaros, which was beaten 3-1 by Qarabag in Turkey: the Azeris overturned Varga’s initial goal with goals by Jankovic, Medina and Qurbanly.
