ATP Winston-Salem: Darderi and Sonego in the round of 16, Arnaldi and Bellucci eliminated

Two wins and two losses for Italian tennis in the round of 16 of the Winston-Salem ATP 250. Reaching the round of 16 are Luciano Darderi and Lorenzo Sonego, while Matteo Arnaldi and Mattia Bellucci have already exited.

Darderi, third seed in the seeding and world number 34, beat Mackenzie McDonald, number 102 in the ATP rankings, in three sets with a final score of 7-6 6-7 6-4 after more than two and a half hours of struggle. He will face Miomir Kecmanovic in the next round.

Lorenzo Sonego, number 5 in the seeding and 35 in the world, also won. The Turin-based player overcame U.S. wildcard Stefan Dostanic, number 412 in the ATP rankings, in three sets with a final score of 6-3 6-7 7-6 after nearly three hours of battle.

The Italian won in three sets.

In the round of 16 the Blue will face Jaume Munar, 12th seed and number 46 in the ATP rankings, who eliminated in two sets Mattia Bellucci (6-3 6-1), unable to repeat after his victory in the opener over Francisco Comesana.

Finally, immediately eliminated Matteo Arnaldi, the sixth seed in the seeding and world number 62: the Ligurian succumbed in two sets to Botic van de Zandschulp, world number 92, who won with a double 6-3 after an hour and 33 minutes of play.
