Voices of retirement for Imane Khelif, the Algerian boxer who ended up in the storm during last summer&#8217s Paris 2024 Olympics. The North African athlete&#8217s former manager, Nasser Yesfah, made strong statements in an interview with Nice Matin, in which he said the champion “has left the boxing world”.

“Imane has not only left Nice, she has left the world of boxing – said the man -. She has currently stopped everything. He has not even resumed boxing. After what happened at the Olympics … Now he does sessions in Algeria or goes to Qatar, to the national performance center, to continue training, but nothing more. And then he travels mainly for sponsorship contracts”.

Nasser Yesfah a few hours later wanted to clarify his statements. At the microphones of var-matin, the’former agent explained that it was a “personal opinion” and that he has not had contact with Imane Khelif since the Paris Olympic Games.

Yesfah said he cannot say with certainty that Imane Khelif has indeed quit boxing. No one at the moment knows the medium- and long-term plans of the Algerian boxer, whose future is in any case cast into doubt after the International Federation’s clampdown on her to introduce a mandatory genetic test for all athletes to participate in various tournaments.
