Also in Ecuador, at the Military World Championships, Carlo Calcagni held the Tricolor very high, winning three races and breaking a new time barrier

“I end this Military World Championship with the immense joy of having won three gold medals, crowned by a new world record with the best time ever,” the colonel recounted. “Results that honor me, but do not represent what I really carry in my heart. The real victory was the brotherhood I experienced during these days: the gratitude, esteem and affection I received from the athletes, chaperones and all the people I met. Being recognized as an example and inspiration for so many is worth more than any medal.”

“The three gold medals will remain in the sporting records, but the medals that really count are the invisible ones: the smiles, the handshakes, the sincere hugs. It is these that I will take with me to Italy, with a heart filled with emotion and gratitude. Never give up, despite everything and everyone, whatever it takes,” added the Paralympic champion.

In the T72 category, the world record holder signed the three rainbow victories by crossing the finish line in the 100 in 14.94, the 200 in 29.40 and the 400 in 1:00.98.
