Home victories for Monza and Palermo in Saturday’s two evening matches of the first day of the Serie B championship. The Brianzoli made their debut with a 1-0 success at home against Mantova, Izzo’s goal at 56′ with a nice header on an assist from Ciurria.
Neither did Palermo, another favorite for promotion to A, slip up: the Sicilianio overcame Reggiana 2-1 at home. The Rosanero took the lead on 38′ with Pohjanpalo, in the second half came the guests’ equalizer signed by Tavsan before the final 2-1 by Pierozzi with a nice left-footed shot after a nice action with Segre.
In the standings Monza and Palermo rise to the lead together with Empoli and Cesena on 3 points.
