Italy coach Gianmarco Pozzecco in a press conference made official the 12 players who will take part in the European Basketball Championships: the Azzurri will make their debut on Thursday, August 28, in Limassol against Greece.

The last cut is that of Riccardo Rossato: “I want to say thank you to Riccardo Rossato, with us from day one. Even in the last 10 days when he was not employed he was always professional. Congratulations to Riccardo, a great guy and player” said Pozzecco.

“We miss Achille Polonara so much. You all know about his health problems. We also miss Tonut. They are both part of us, part of our family. What we have built together over the last few years is not just basketball, but it is relationships between players and coaching staff”. The National Team’s goal: “We are an open construction site, as I have often had to say, but I rely heavily on my players. We have one goal: to play as a team”.

The 12 players chosen are Nicola Akele, Momo Diouf, Simone Fontecchio, Danilo Gallinari, Nicolò Melli, Saliou Niang, Alessandro Pajola, Gabriele Procida, Giampaolo Ricci, Matteo Spagnolo, Marco Spissu and Darius Thompson.
