Holger Rune resigned over Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz after yet another elimination

Another disappointment for Holger Rune, who came out in the second round of the US Open against Jan-Lennard Struff and still out of the Top 10 in the ATP rankings. The Danish tennis player to the microphones of ekstrabladet.dk commented on his performance as follows: “My opponent played amazingly, in the crucial moments I was unlucky”.
Just a few days ago Rune, on the strength of his new partnership with Agassi, had challenged the two current dominators of the circuit, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, claiming that he was capable of beating them. Instead, things turned out differently: “It is very difficult to win a Slam right now” said Rune, venting his frustration.
“There will probably be another final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz– admitted Rune– . Besides them, only Djokovic and Zverev” have any chance.
Rune has won five tournaments on the ATP circuit, the last one last May in Barcelona in the final against Carlos Alcaraz. This year in Grand Slam tournaments he has never managed to get beyond the fourth round.
