Tensions skyrocketed for the Italian super derby between Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, which will award a place in the finals of the US Open, the last Slam tournament of the season. After difficulties with Shapovalov, the world number one swept away doubts about his condition by overwhelming Alexander Bublik with a triple 6-1. Also arriving at the match in top form was Lorenzo Musetti, who rifled a peremptory 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 win over Spaniard Jaume Munar.

The match will be played on Wednesday night and Thursday no earlier than 2:10 a.m. (Italian time): the match will take place, of course, at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Sinner is coming off 25 consecutive victories on cement and is the clear favorite against the Carrarino, who is, however, playing his best tennis and on the wings of enthusiasm, confirming the progress of recent months that has seen him break into the Top 10 of the world rankings.

The two have been playing each other for the past few years.

The two have faced each other twice in the past on the ATP circuit, several times on the smaller circuits.

In the previous ATP events, Jannik Sinner has always won, coming out on top in both Antwerp 2021 and Monte Carlo 2023. In Barcelona 2023 the two were scheduled to play each other but the Azure forfeited due to injury.

Whoever wins will face one of Canada&#8217s Felix Auger-Aliassime and Australia&#8217s Alex De Minaur in the semifinals.
