Jannik Sinner spoke at a press conference after his clear victory in the derby with Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinals of the Us Open: “To find myself in the semifinals of a Slam again is a great achievement, I am really very happy about that. We always try to prepare the best we can to be in this position. I like to get to the bottom of tournaments and try to raise my level. I have been feeling this feeling for two years, especially in Grand Slams, I really like to play best of five sets. Now I know my body better, so I am very happy and satisfied to be in the semifinals again”.

In the penultimate act of the New York Slam, the world number one will take on Felix Auger-Aliassime, to whom he gave up only two games in Cincinnati: “It will be completely different, because the conditions are different here. He has had big wins recently, so he is much more confident. We will see what will happen. I think anything can happen. As for me, I always try to look at myself, and I am very happy to be in the semifinals in a Slam again. In my opinion he has improved a lot. Even in one week you can make big changes, and I think he has made them. Yes, it will be a very difficult match for both of us. Definitely it will be different, because in a Slam there is a different energy, everything is different. It will be very interesting to see what will happen”.

He then unveiled a new feature on serve: “Today I served very well in the important points and managed to improve the percentage slightly, which always helps. Obviously playing with the first is much better, but on the second we are making changes: we try to push a little bit more, but also with more spin. Now I also start to vary, I don’t always go to the body; I can find different angles, it also depends on the day. Definitely today I was able to serve better”.

Closing remarks on the rowdy Artur Ashe Stadium: “Yes, it is noticeable, it is a very different tournament. That also makes it special. I learned to play well here when I accepted that aspect. Sometimes the Armstrong is even louder. In the evening it is different, the crowd changes and it also depends on the match played before. I think it is more difficult to play the second game because it depends on the 7 p.m. game. You have to accept it”.
