He looked like he could break his brother Marc’s long winning streak, but Alex Marquez squandered a great chance to win the MotoGp Sprint Race in Catalonia with a crash with three laps to go. The Gresini Racing rider made mea culpa on the sidelines of the race, taking responsibility for the’incident.

“It was my mistake – admitted Alex Marquez -, I relaxed or maybe I didn&#8217t breathe enough. We missed a great opportunity, but better today than tomorrow. We have the pace and speed to be protagonists and now we just need to put it all together to regain heavy points. Tomorrow is another day”.

The sodality founded by the late Fausto Gresini ended a sportingly bitter day also for the fall of the’other rider, Fermin Aldeguer: “A real shame because we had a good pace and were recovering positions – explained the young Spaniard -. I am sorry for the team, for me and also for Marco that I could not avoid. Tomorrow we have all the cards to try to make up for it and to hit the positions that count, although the long lap will not help us”.

Losing another 12 points to Marc Marquez, Alex (however, protagonist of the Constructors’ title won for the sixth consecutive year by Ducati) sees his gap in the standings reach 187 points, with 284 points still available by winning all the races from here on: the ninth rainbow title in the career of the number 93, in short, seems ever closer.
