In a Youtube video Gianmarco Tamberi, after a rather long introduction, announced that he will participate in the World Championships in Tokyo, which will kick off on September 13.

“I tried jumping again as planned, my legs responded well, and I was a little hesitant at first, when I started pushing I felt some discomfort.”

“There would be two thousand reasons to start but also two thousand reasons not to start, but I didn’t think I would be able to jump, then that I couldn’t do certain things doesn’t matter.”

“It’s a complicated challenge but that’s exactly why I’m gassed and so I’m willing to put myself out there.”

Then, finally, the final announcement: “As long as I am a professional I have to make professional choices. So see you in Tokyo, hoping it will be worth it”.

Just in Tokyo Gianmarco Tamberi won the Olympic high jump gold medal in 2021, in 2023 he also scored at the World Championships in Budapest, also he was European champion in 2016, 2022 and 2024.
