Pre-World Cup test match, Italy beats Japan in Tokyo

The men’s national volleyball team won in Tokyo by overcoming, in the second test match played at the LaLa Arena Tokyo Bay, again the hosts Japan with a score of 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 16-25, 34-32).
Well played match by Italy. After winning the first two sets with merit, the Azzurri had to suffer the comeback of the team captained by Ishikawa, who won the third partial clearly.
In the fourth and last set, however, the national team led by Ferdinando De Giorgi at the end of a real battle under the net managed to impose itself and get the second success.
For the reigning world champion Azzurri, this was the last test before the departure for the World Championships (Philippines, September 12-28), set for Tuesday, September 9: the day when the Italian delegation will fly from Tokyo in the direction of Manila to officially begin the run-up to the defense of the rainbow title.
