Valentino Rossi still has to make room in his already very rich trophy case: the ‘Dottore’ did not hide his excitement in the’aftermath of his podium finish in the Lone Star Le Mans, a second place in the LMGT3 class achieved at the wheel of Team WRT’s BMW M4 Evo, alternating driving with Ahmad Al Harthy and Kelvin van der Linde in the number 46 car.

“This is incredible! It seemed like this race would never end – explained the nine-time MotoGP champion -We were fast, but we had some unfortunate moments during the race. We were last at one point, but then we were able to come back, and with these conditions at the end, when we were able to mount slicks, our machine went very well and Kelvin did a fantastic job. I am very happy for this podium, for me, for my teammates and for all the guys in the team”.

The LMGT3 class race was won by Sean Gelael, Darren Leung and Marino Sato, who completed the race behind the wheel of the McLaren 720s Evo, at the Circuit of the Americas, with a very narrow lead over the number 46, just 246 thousandths. Rounding out the podium, in Ferrari 296, was the’crew composed of Francesco Castellacci, Thomas Flohr and Davide Rigon.

As for the Hypercars, on the other hand, victory went to Matthew Campbell, Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor in Porsche 963, ahead of the Ferrari 499P driven by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen and the Peugeot 9X8 with a crew composed of Loic Duval, Malthe Jakobsen and Stoffel Vandoorne: slightly higher gaps (but not even too much for a 120-lap race) than in the GT3 race, with less than 9 seconds dividing the top two places.
