Marc Marquez falls in Misano, but does not lose his smile. The ruler of MotoGP for all of 2025 made one of the few mistakes of his magical season in the Sprint Race that preceded the San Marino Grand Prix by a day, however, taking with philosophy as much his withdrawal as the victory of a rival in great growth as Marco Bezzecchi. Riding, moreover, the same Aprilia that is trying to challenge Ducati’s dominance.

“I made a mistake, when I was already first and had managed to do the most difficult thing and that is to overtake Bezzecchi – admitted Marquez conversing to the microphones of ‘Sky Sport’ -. I made a mistake in turn 15, which in Misano always represents a critical point. Maybe I exaggerated a little bit’ with the tire, but it fits. We are human”.

Although in the serenity of one who is aware that he still has the title of world champion in his grasp, Marc Marquez is aware that he missed the’chance to score his ninth consecutive victory in a Sprint Race. “In the first few laps I noticed that I had a little bit more than Bezzecchi – noted the Ducati Catalan -I decided to keep calm, however, because the race was long. Then I found more confidence in the bike, I was able to push harder and I passed him’s. As soon as I relaxed, though, I lost the front end. But I was still first, and that is the most important thing”.

Marquez’s crash interrupted an impressive streak of 15 consecutive Sprint Race and Grand Prix wins that had characterized his dominant season. The Catalan had built up a 250-point lead over teammate Pecco Bagnaia, evidence of a technical and mental superiority that made 2025 one of the most dominant seasons in recent MotoGP history.

Now the goal is to return to winning ways when Misano hosts the long race valid for the San Marino Grand Prix. “Figuring out how it will go tomorrow is really difficult. I don&#8217t think the average will drop, we will all have to push from the beginning to the end. And honestly I see Bezzecchi favored, because he took the pole position and in general he is going really strong. But we will try to give him a battle, to give a joy to all those fans who come here to Misano to see motorcycling”, concluded Marquez.

The contrast with his teammate’s performance was even more evident during the Misano Sprint Race. While Marquez dueled for victory with Bezzecchi, Bagnaia experienced yet another nightmarish Saturday, finishing 13th without picking up any points. The three-time world champion has expressed all his frustration: “It is not possible to turn a second and a half slower than each of the other rounds of the weekend”, he told Sky Sports, confirming his chronic problems with the Desmosedici of 2025.

The victory of Marco Bezzecchi was a special moment for the home crowd, considering that the Aprilia rider is from Rimini and was competing precisely in the San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix. The podium celebration with the reproduction of Garpez – homage to the famous movie “Three Men and a Leg” – added a touch of originality to the celebration. “I have always been a huge fan of Aldo, John and James, I always quote them in the boxes”” revealed Bezzecchi, explaining the choice of the particular celebration.
