Sunday’s third day of Serie A ended with Milan’s narrow victory over Bologna. Deciding the challenge at the Meazza was a Luka Modric goal that gave the three points to the Rossoneri, who hit as many as four woodpeckers throughout the match.

Fizzing start by the Diavolo, which after eleven minutes goes close to the lead with a left-footed shot by Gimenez from inside the area but Skorupski clears. Three minutes later the Rossoblù found the goal with Cambiaghi but the goal was disallowed for offside. On 24′ Estupiñan hits the post with a right-footed shot. In the final another post by the Rossoneri with Gimenez splitting from two steps.

At the beginning of the second half, calf problems for Maignan: Terracciano entered in his place. At 61′ the Rossoneri took the lead: Saelemaekers received from Loftus-Cheek on the right and put in a tow for Modric, who slipped it past Skorupski. Seven minutes later the hosts came close to doubling the lead with Ricci but it was again the post that saved the Felsinei. At the 83rd another wood for the Diavolo with Gimenez. In the final, the referee awarded a penalty to Milan for Freuler&#8217s foul on Nkunku but revoked it after Var review: Allegri went on a rampage and was ejected.

Thanks to this success, Milan climbs to 6 points in the standings, in fourth place with Roma and Cremonese (who will face Verona on Monday night), while Bologna remains stuck at 3, in 10th place along with Inter, Lazio and Sassuolo.
