Andrea Bargnani extols Saliou Niang and compares him to two big names

In spite of the’Italy did not shine at the recent European Championships, everyone has discovered the talent of Saliou Niang. The young Azzurri, class of 2004, enchanted with his physicality, combined with great defensive skills (impressive rebounding). Chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers at the’last NBA Draft, Saliou Niang will play this season in Italy with the Virtus Bologna jersey.

Andrea Bargnani, a man who knows a thing or two about talent (No. 1 pick in the 2006 NBA Draft), on the sidelines of the upcoming Italian basketball Supercup presentation event, of which he is an ambassador, had some honeyed words for Saliou Niang.

“I like Niang a lot, interesting player, although he is still to be built. He has so much potential. He can become one of those players a la Carlos Delfino or Pascal Siakam who may not be specialists in something but are capable of filling multiple roles and do it very well. Definitely a great young man”, the words of the Wizard.

The feeling is that Saliou Niang is indeed destined for a bright future in the NBA. In the meantime, at least for this season, Virtus Bologna fans will enjoy him. Together with all’other Azzurri revelation Mouhamet Diouf, they will be pure energy for the V Nere. The first official appointment for both will be precisely the Italian Super Cup. On Saturday, September 27, Virtus Bologna-Olimpia Milano is scheduled.
