Genoa mocked at 99': Orsolini completes Bologna’s comeback

Saturday on the fourth day of Serie A opened with a last-gasp comeback victory for Bologna, which narrowly beat Genoa. At the Dall’ara it ends 2-1 for the Emilians, who overturn Ellertsson’s early lead with goals from Castro and Orsolini on a penalty kick.

Not even two minutes pass and Castro signs the lead for the hosts but is caught offside. On 18′ the guests responded with a left-footed shot by Vasquez that did not trouble Leali. At 35′ Martin’s left-footed left-footed shot on Colombo’s bank but Skorupski overcomes and denies the goal to the Grifone. Three minutes later Heggem came close to making it 1-0 with a header just high.

In the second half at 62′ Vitinha came close to scoring with a header that ended on the’outside of the net. A minute later the Ligurians went through: Malinovskyi imbued for Ellertsson, who pierced Skorupski with a violent right-footed shot under the crossbar. Bologna’s reaction was immediate: at 67′ Castro engaged Leali with a header that, however, remained central, six minutes later he found the equalizer with an outside touch on an assist from Cambiaghi.

In the final, with time almost up, the referee is called back by the Var for a Valentin Carboni hand touch in the box: after a very long check, the match director awards a penalty to Bologna, converted by Orsolini that sends the Emilian fans into ecstasy. Patrick Vieira, however, goes on a rampage and is ejected for protests.

In the standings, Bologna climbs to 6 points, momentarily sixth with AC Milan and Roma, while Genoa remains stuck at 2, just outside the relegation zone.
