Jasmine Paolini and the Blue Women: "We are writing history"

Jasmine Paolini expressed all her enthusiasm after Italy&#8217s second consecutive triumph at the Billie Jean King Cup: “It&#8220s incredible, I don&#8217t know what to say. Thank you to the whole team, the players, the fans, the captain, whoever is on the bench from us and beyond, the people, the Italian audience here, the Chinese audience”.

“It really has been an amazing week, it is great to play this competition, I also want to thank Conchita Martinez, the tournament director, and Billie Jean King herself. It has been a perfect’organization, lovely to be here in Shenzhen. Today we did well against a very strong team; it was difficult. I don&#8217t know if this victory is more special or last year&#8217s, but it was certainly different. Honestly, I didn&#8217t expect it this way”.

Also delighted Italy&#8217s captain Tathiana Garbin: “The girls are writing history, they are doing extraordinary feats . When they play in the national team jersey they manage to summon energy that they may not have in other tournaments. I am very proud of them and what they do: they never miss a call, they are always there and when they are not playing they cheer for whoever is on the court. I am proud of the team you are and what you are doing” are his words to Supertennis.

“I am happy because Elisabetta was able to give her all in a difficult match in which she expressed a very high level of presence on the court which was what we had asked of her and in which she proved herself ready. Then Jas capped the feat, but we would have been ready in doubles as well. It’s a team victory, it&#8217s a bigger roster of girls, including those who stayed home and cheered for us”.
