To find a Williams on the podium you have to go back to as far as 2021. Four years later, Carlos Sainz, at the GP d’Azerbaijan, signed a real feat, bringing the Frank Williams-founded stable back to the top three at the finish line.

“This is my best podium finish in my entire career. You cannot imagine what this achievement tastes like. Thank you from the bottom of my heart”, the Spanish driver’s words over the radio at the end of the race in Baku. His 28th career podium is the best ever.

In fact, it is also a historic podium. Carlos Sainz becomes, in fact, the second driver in Formula 1 history to have achieved at least one podium with McLaren, Ferrari and Williams, that is, the three most prestigious teams in the circus. Before him, the’only other driver to do so was Alain Prost.

Rebounded by third place in Baku (in season he was suffering a lot from Alexander Albon, his teammate), Carlos Sainz is relaunching himself in a big way and looking to the future with even more optimism. While Lewis Hamilton is still looking for his first podium with Ferrari, the’former Ferrari driver is enjoying the feat at the Azerbaijan GP and celebrating in a big way a choice that, at last, is starting to prove him right. And who knows what will happen in 2026.
