Zaniolo and Miller knock out Palermo: Udinese gives itself away to Juventus

After Cagliari’s poker over Frosinone, the Italian Cup round of 16 continued with Udinese’s narrow victory over Palermo. At the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, in fact, the Bianconeri overcame the Rosanero 2-1 thanks to goals by Zaniolo and Miller.

The match unblocked in the end of the first half: at 41′ Zaniolo found the first goal in the shirt of the Friulans with a left-footed shot from outside the box into the corner. Four minutes later Miller doubled with a precise header that again beat Joronen.

In the second half, the hosts twice came close to a hat-trick with first Zemura and then Piotrowski, but Joronen kept the guests alive, who shortened the score in the final with Peda finding the winning break on Augello’s excellent cross.

Thanks to this victory Udinese flies to the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia where they will face Juventus. The Friulians will return to the pitch Sunday at 12:30 p.m. with Sassuolo for the fifth day of Serie A, while the Rosanero will take on Cesena Saturday at 3 p.m. in the fifth day of Serie B.
