Federico Chiesa was honored as ‘player of the match’ after Liverpool’s win against Southampton in the Carabo Cup. The Blue, who started from 1′ for the first time since the start of the season, made two assists: “I think I have already played more this year than the whole of last season. I feel much better physically, I am happy and I need to continue on this path”.

“I play in Liverpool, one of the best clubs in the world– added the former Juventus player in words reported by Gazzetta dello Sport -: normal there is a lot of competition, if I didn&#8217t want it I would go elsewhere But I want this competition, I want to play here because I think I can become a better player”.

“Last year it was hard to sit out, even though I don&#8217t think I was at the level the coach wanted me to play. This year is different: I feel better both physically and mentally, the coach saw that and gave me more chances. I’m happy to have helped out in the Premier: that’s what Liverpool wants from each of its players, what the coach asks for. If you play for Liverpool, you have to know how to make a difference. I am happy for the moment I am having and I know I have to keep working hard to get more opportunities in the future”.

“I am not on the Champions League list, so I have to focus on the Carabao Cup, use it to show the coach that I can play more in the Premier. He gave me chances in the first four league games and I think I showed that I can help the team. The coach explained why he did not put me on the list: I was sorry, because I think Champions League is every player’s dream, but I am a professional and I told him I would continue to work hard to get my chances in the other competitions” Chiesa concluded.
