After the bitter defeat in the final at the Chengdu ATP 250, Lorenzo Musetti is ready to return to the court at the Beijing ATP 500. The Carrara native, the fourth seeded seed, will make his debut against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, No. 36 in the ATP rankings.

The match between l’Azzurro and the Frenchman will close the schedule on the ‘Lotus’ court of the ‘Beijing Olympic Green Tennis Center’ on Friday, Sept. 26. Musetti and Perricard will take the court no earlier than 1 p.m. Italian time (7 p.m. local time).

There are three previous meetings between the two players and all of them smile at the Carrara player: the most recent one dates back to the first round of the last Us Open with Musetti winning in four sets. Lorenzo has prevailed on two other occasions over the giant transalpine: in four sets in the round of 16 of Wimbledon 2024 and in two sets in the first round of the Stuttgart 2024 ATP 250.

Musetti is not the’only Italian tennis player present at the ‘China Open’: Jannik Sinner, who leads the seeding, has already made it past the first round after an easy win over Marin Cilic, while Flavio Cobolli and Lorenzo Sonego will make their debuts against Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev, respectively.
