On the day of Marc Marquez’s triumph, Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi did not want to forget Pecco Bagnaia, who returned to win a MotoGP race after a long fast: “Pecco’s victory is not second to Marquez’s world championship. I think the satisfaction of having Pecco so fast again, so competitive, is a joy for all of Ducati, not only for the team, also for the engineers back home who have worked so hard these past months to get him back to where he is”.

Bagnaia had a nightmarish year with the new bike, and never managed to be competitive for the title. But in Motegi, the two-time MotoGP world champion suddenly became dominant again and won both the Sprint race and the Sunday race. Tardozzi made mea culpa to Sky microphones: “It took us too long, I know: Pecco always said the right things, we came to it late unfortunately”.

“The understanding was never lacking, the trust was never lacking, I know I wore you down by saying ‘we will get there’ but we made it. We don&#8217t have concessions like other teams, so for certain tests that you have to spend so much time on, it took the 8 hours of testing on Monday”.

Words that have aroused the’ire of the Piedmontese driver&#8217s fans on social media. So many fans accuse the team of having bistratted Bagnaia to favor the Catalan rider, who has equaled Valentino Rossi as the number of titles.
