Claudio Trophy 2025 to the Garda Salò Rowing Society

Great satisfaction for Brescian sailing: the Garda Salò Rowing Society won the prestigious Claudio 2025 Trophy, held over the weekend in the waters of Campione del Garda.
The event, organized by Univela Sailing with the support of Regione Lombardia, attracted 14 teams from all over Italy, engaged in more than 160 match races characterized by strong winds and challenging conditions.
After two days of tight round robins, the team from Salò – led by coach Marco Baruzzi, a pupil of the same Claudio Brighenti after whom the trophy is named – distinguished itself to the point of winning the final, overtaking Circolo Velico di Ostia. In third place was Circolo Velico Ravennate, ahead of Yacht Club Italiano of Genoa.
“Winning in Campione, in front of our people and in an event that bears Claudio’s name, has a special value”, Baruzzi commented at the end of the awards ceremony.
The trophy took on an even more intense meaning thanks to the presence of Claudio Brighenti–s sons Adam, Ariel and Gabrio– who presented the prizes together with the chairman of the Race Committee, Ezio Pozzengo, and the chairman of the Referees, Giuseppe Lallai.
Over 20 volunteers contributed to the safety and management of the regatta course, supporting a team of national referees and judges who ensured the smooth running of the competition.
The Claudio Trophy, presented last Monday at Palazzo Lombardia in the Region, was the prelude to what next year will be the European Championship of the Optimist Class, which will be held precisely at Univela Campione del Garda.
Regione Lombardia, in the person of Undersecretary for Sport Federica Picchi, confirmed that it will support the event in 2026, which will attract hundreds of young sailors from all over Europe and which sees Italy as the strongest nation.
